Failure to acknowledge our national shame will ultimately corrupt all of us. A nation of people that reflexively defends the indefensible from its past becomes sociopathic.
Don’t forget these things, ever. Like all other significant aspects of our country’s history, they are part of your heritage. Not shying away from them is essential. We have to learn from them.
It is August 26, 2017, and we, the remaining sane citizens of the United States of America can no longer give you our hearts, our love, our compassion.

Millionaire black men with a national audience of millions aren’t supposed to be political. In McCarthy’s eyes, and definitely in the eyes of the owners, they’ve been bought and paid for. It’s a vile metaphor, but it’s true.
I enthusiastically encourage others to peruse, edit and add to this list. I merely wanted to put some names and events out there so that we could see just how many great Americans deserve to be remembered for their acts of courage and love, and for their humanity against overwhelming odds.
Being a cop requires more than a gun. It requires the ability to assess situations for what they are, assess people in stressful situations, and do what you can to enforce the law with as little physical force as possible. If you disagree with that, you shouldn’t be a cop.
